Enjoy active change processes for label versions throughout the entire lifecycle. We show you how to ensure product compliance with the Content & Alert Manager (CAM).
Objectives in Product Compliance
Product compliance places many demands on your master data. Accordingly, your labels must also comply with these legal and regulatory requirements. You must indicate product registrations as well as declarations of conformity on labels accordingly. Your labels as part of your products are thus subject to the same product life cycle. Label versioning is therefore a central functionality of your label management system.
Control changes
During the life cycle of a label, all changes to data content and templates are generated and approved in a version management system. This is possible with the help of approval workflows with digital signatures.

Freeze label versions
To make a version of your labels unchangeable, you can freeze the current state. As a result of this, and taking into account the validity date, production printing is only done with frozen label versions.
Trace history
All versions of a label are stored and archived. You can view a log of approvals, the approval documentation and all electronic signatures at any time.
Scope of a label version
A label contains different types of data elements. When versioning, the properties of these element types must be taken into account. For this purpose, we provide you with the Content & Alert Manager (CAM), a transparent and comprehensive solution that supports you in all areas, from creation through to approval and ultimately decommissioning of labels.
Which label data is relevant?
An essential and central component of labels is the raw data that is printed on the label. However, not all of them are to be considered relevant to the content. Make the appropriate groupings and then define, for example, master data or product attributes as content-relevant. Transactional data such as the batch, an order number or a production date are printed in relation to specific order. A new label version is therefore only necessary if the data relevant to the content is changed.
What are label templates?
You need barcodes, text elements, graphics or pictograms on your labels. You create the design of label data in an external designer, and this is then referred to as a template or layout. These templates are filled with data from SAP at runtime. This means that you can use the same template several times for different products, thus reducing your effort. Version management for different “states” of a template should therefore be considered part of your label version.
Would you like to have your labels analyzed?
Our experts show you how to classify your labels and prepare them for versioning. We will be happy to show you how approval with an electronic signature works.
Document approvals – the process
Label versions must be released in line with the change management of your products. The focus here is on the validity over the timeline. You decide whether you require a formal approval or whether approval is provided automatically via a set of rules.

Strategies for approval
Set a strategy for approval based on the process, product or any data content. You define any tasks and assign them to the responsible departments. You configure each task individually in line with the needs of your document approval process.

Rules for approvals
You define sets of rules for determining the approval strategy that your label version goes through. Make-to-order processes, for example, can be approved automatically. Make-to-stock processes, on the other hand, require approval by the product manager and quality assurance for certain product families.

Electronic signatures
Depending on the industry, approvals are sometimes regulatory and you have to sign them personally. An example of this is the FDA regulation 21 CFR Part 11, which requires electronic records and signatures in the life sciences industry. Your approvals of label versions in the Content & Alert Manager comply with such requirements.
Expectations of our customers

Arthur Schmucki
Projekt-Manager at Belimo AG
Before we can go live with our new labeling system, we need complete confidence when it comes to the label migration! Our Make-to-Stock products (MTS) must be approved via a formal workflow. Label versioning must also be available throughout the entire life cycle. We need a way to perform an impact analysis after any changes have been made to data sources or templates.
Analyze labels versions easily
For label versioning, we provide you with a variety of analysis tools. Because especially when there is a high variety and number of products, product compliance becomes a real challenge for you. With these tools you can reliably assess impact.
Live notifications
With our Alert feature, you can monitor changes to your labels while your systems are running. Especially in automated processes, for example in make-to-order production, this can be a great help in detecting deviations from previous versions at an early stage. For the analysis, we provide you with extensive filter functions, which you can also use to limit the sample to very specific changes. Our analyses help you to get an overview of the changes at any time.
Compare versions
Changes to your labels are sometimes barely visible to the eye. Content-related changes, on the other hand, are relatively easy to analyze. For both requirements we offer a version comparison function for labels. On the one hand, we show you changes at the field level, which you can see clearly. This allows you to recognize discrepancies in text segments immediately. On the other hand, you can have the labels compared visually. This ensures you no longer miss any changes.

Label comparison with COYODO
The COYODO Difference View was created to compare versions of technical drawings. You can apply the graphic comparison to any other graphical document, such as labels. For the comparison, print out the labels as a PDF document. This can be used as a control printout, for electronic storage, or for a graphical comparison of label versions. This means that all of the advantages of an effective graphic comparison can also be used for labels in the Content & Alert Manager (CAM). With COYODODifference View, which is generated automatically, you can compare your label versions at the pixel level.
The PDF analysis marks changes and highlights them visually. A degree of correlation is also shown.
