Reduce the effort and complexity in labeling at the POS. Create a “Single Point of Management” and “Single Source of Truth” for your labeling tasks.
One system for all label types
OPAL LABELMANAGEMENT™ sits at the heart of SAP®. This allows you to open the software from any business process in SAP and access the data from SAP. Labels such as price tags, promotional posters, product labels and other kinds of posters as well as shipping labels are mapped in one printing process. For each label you define the data you need for it individually. For example, you determine the size of a price tag depending on the point of sale, the color depending on product attributes, and the price depending on stored discounts for the promotion. If you have different markets in different language regions, you can also control the language on the price tags or posters based on the location. The digital and centralized approach allows you to use the data for printing labels, including digital labels (ESL), at the POS (point of sale).

The top 6 labeling challenges in the trade sector
Based on the experience of our customers, as well as the requirements for labeling systems for consumer goods, we have compiled the 6 most important challenges in labeling (e.g. price tags, posters) in the trade sector for you.

Long text phrases & text “flows”
You print product information on your labels. Depending on the size of the label, line breaks must also be taken into account without any overlapping text on the label. The automatic adjustment of the text size as well as the text flow around objects is therefore very helpful.
Format sizes
Often, items can be offered in different quantities and sales units. Individual items may be stored in a hanging rack, multiple items in a box on the shelf or on a pallet. Although the item data is the same, the size format of the price tag will also change as well as the quantity. Controlling such industry-specific requirements is one of the great strengths of OPAL LABELMANAGEMENT™.
Images & Graphics
Are you printing images of the item on a promotional poster? Automatic scaling of images to the correct size saves a lot of effort. Depending on the application used, you can use different printing technologies to realize a higher quality print.
Multilingual labels
The languages you print on a label usually depends on the point of sale. With the conditions you define in label management, you can easily control the languages by market. The template enables you to use dynamic arrangement of languages to print multiple languages with minimal space requirements.
Generic design
A generic approach to labeling can save the most resources. We know all the tricks when it comes to implementing such an approach, but also where the limits are. With the label designers that we offer, you have professional tools for handling this work.
Mobile printing
Anyone who has ever had to relabel merchandise on retail shelves knows that it takes a lot of concentration to get the right tag in the right place. This task can be done more easily with a mobile printer. With a Scan & Print function, the barcode on the old price tag is scanned and the new tag is then printed immediately. This reduces errors to a minimum.
