SAP integration for external partners – a technical challenge?
We have been working intensively on the SAP connection to external partners, as our customers want to make label printing available to the supply chain beyond the boundaries of the company. In particular, the subcontractors, suppliers or logistics service providers are in focus here. Label printing poses the same challenge to all partners in the supply chain: The equipment is not on the same network. Technologies such as Web printing or the Internet of Things (IoT) must therefore be applied in order to realize a SAP connection.
If you ask people from IT, they will focus on the security, on the one hand, and on the maintainability of such connections, on the other. Your logistics experts as well as the external partners expect the highest possible degree of integration, and they see user-friendliness as an important decision criterion. As you can see, a great many, and sometimes very different, requirements come together. We have developed two solutions for you that will please your IT department as well as your logistics department.

Exciting products for your partners
With a lot of innovative spirit and support from our customers, we have created two different products for partner integration. Below we present these two approaches in more detail:
Web Print Client (WPC):

The WPC offers a user-friendly way to print your labels, which has been developed for your suppliers and subcontractors. Designed as a pure web application, WPC comes with a high level of SAP integration and also offers the ability to print locally at your partner’s premises. Your partners can use any browser to print your labels. With the “Scan n’ Print Mode“, we have improved the user-friendliness even further. Entries are made entirely via a barcode scanner, which reduces the number of incorrect entries to a minimum.
Smart Printer Client (SPC):
SAP Direct Printing via IoT
The Smart Printer Client (SPC) is an all-in-one approach that combines two elements. You turn your label printer into an input device by performing print transactions directly on the printer. This kind of SAP integration is probably unprecedented. We have taken advantage of the modern operating system of the printers that is available today. SPC uses a connection based on IoT technology for your printing processes in SAP, which allows you to easily and securely overcome company boundaries.
Extensive SAP interfaces for your application
Nowadays, printing processes and labels are extremely important when it comes to the logistics processes in your company. Interfaces to your printing system, for internal systems such as an MES (Manufacturing Execution System) or a WMS (Warehouse Management System) for example, are indispensable. Our extensive BAPI and Web services turn your SAP connection into a success factor.
Third Party Integration
You can implement an SAP connection for internal systems securely and efficiently with our SAP interfaces. We provide you with a comprehensive API (Application Programming Interface) as a BAPI (Business Application Program Interface) or Web service (REST). You can use the BAPI to connect almost any system to your Label Management System. This SAP interface offers the external and internal systems the possibility to generate a preview of the labels or print them out. What’s more, further functions are also available to you as Web services. For example, you can query the available printers, determine label information and review levels as well as the content, in order to reuse them in other systems.
