The integration of the Faubel Logistics Label (FLL) into the OPAL label management software for SAP.
The Faubel-Logistics Label is a battery-free e-paper display with integrated RFID technology that has been specially developed to meet the requirements of intralogistics, merchandise management and transport container management.
Thanks to its energy-efficient and flexible properties, it offers a sustainable alternative to conventional paper or plastic labels. The label can be written to contactlessly via NFC/RFID and only requires energy when updating, making it completely maintenance-free.
Thanks to its integration into the OPAL label management software, the FLL is seamlessly integrated into SAP-supported logistics processes. This enables companies to digitize and centrally control their labeling processes and improve data accuracy in the supply chain.
Writing a smart label is similar to printing a label on paper. Instead of printing directly to a physical printer, the label is sent to a virtual printer. This is the mobile device with which the smart labels can be overwritten via RFID.

The Faubel Smart Label has a monochrome e-paper display and therefore cannot display colors.
1D and 2D barcodes, as well as Texts and graphics can generally be displayed without any problems.
Compared to a label printer, the lower resolution however, it may be necessary to Font size and the x-dimension of barcodes accordingly to ensure good readability and scannability.
The printer is integrated into Windows as an IPP device with its network IP. One printer is created for each label size and RFID device.
The technology used for data transmission is NFC (Near Field Communication) –> The mobile device must be placed directly on the smart label that is to be written to.
Flexible options for device communication
Our Android app offers a simple print function that allows you to work quickly and easily. Please note: This function does not support UID feedback and does not allow additional data to be written to the device memory – this is technically limited by the print protocol.
