Reduce risks in labeling using barcode verification. Learn more about the potential and use cases.
Causes of poorly printed labels
Errors in labeling are usually due to incorrect handling of the label printer. Nowadays, modern printers are generally not the cause, as the printing units used are very sophisticated.
Possible causes of poor print result are:
The PX940V – a label printer with integrated barcode verification
With the PX940V from Honeywell, you not only get a printer, but also an integrated verifier at the same time. If a barcode is not recognized or the quality is not sufficient, the label is retracted, marked as invalid accordingly and reprinted.
Measure your barcode quality (Garding)
Barcode verification already prevents most of the causes (see above) for errors in the print image. The barcode quality is determined on the basis of ISO 15415/15416.
In addition, there is practically no configuration effort. The verification process is almost autonomous. This makes this solution very attractive compared to verification systems with OCR/OCV, which verify 100% of the data, in terms of price, risk and effort.
More printer specifications
The Honeywell PX940V label printer is offered with different resolutions, from 203 dpi up to 600 dpi. It positions accurately to +/- 0.75 mm and can process labels from 12.5 mm minimum length in Verifier mode.
The PX940V reaches a maximum print speed of 101.6 mm. If you work without verifier you reach a maximum print speed of 202 mm per second.

The PX940V as a tool for labeling according to EU-MDR
In this guide, you will learn how to create a compliant label according to the EU MDR 2017/745. We explain how the EU MDR and other standards are legally related to each other. We also address the requirements for medical device labels and provide assistance in the form of a checklist. A maximally pronounced label example, which you are welcome to order from us as a poster, serves as a reference. In addition, we address the demands made on a label management system by the new regulation.

Did you know?
Verification of barcodes is only useful if you are also sure that you are sending the correct data to the printer. This security can be achieved for example with OPAL’s Content & Alert Manager. This allows the release of labeling data via a configurable release process. From the combination of validated data and verified print results, companies in highly regulated industries gain a secure marking solution.
