VDA Goods Tags
The German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), of which over 600 companies are members, draws up recommendations in the automotive sector. These recommendations are aligned with the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (EAMA), of which VDA is also a member. Some of the recommendations relate to the labeling of logistical units, and they are required to supply parts to automotive manufacturers. The main goal of standardization in labeling is to optimize logistic processes in just-in-time and sequential production.

Automatic integration into SAP business processes
The integration of OPAL LABELMANAGEMENT with SAP business modules allows labels to be printed from any transaction.
Production Planning (PP)
In discrete manufacturing, operators work primarily with production orders and need to print the VDA labels directly on demand after confirmation. On production data collection systems (PDC), our BAPI or Web Service can be used to automatically trigger the printout during the movement of goods.
Sales and Distribution (SD)
Operators typically pack their goods into HU’s (handling unit management) based on delivery position. Global transport labels (GTL) or small load carriers (KLT) are flat or stacked and require a VDA label. Typically, mobile solutions or packing processes trigger the printout automatically.
Logistic Execution (EWM)
In the extended warehouse management system (EWM), handling units (HU) are the main means of transport. Operators can easily print VDA labels during daily warehouse tasks via the interfaces to the label printing system. Specific actions in the PPF (post processing framework) are used as triggers.
Shift labeling to your partners
Shifting effort in the supply chain to the supplier can be attractive, but not always a good idea. Only those who can offer their suppliers a solution that also reduces their costs have a chance of success. Tesla Shipment Labels (1J / 5J / 6J)
Tesla suppliers do not have to create their labels according to the VDA specifications, but according to Tesla’s guideline. This is based on the ANSI (America National Standard Institute) standard MH10.8.2, which should not be unknown to most suppliers, since VDA-4902 already used these defined data identifiers.
Special to Tesla’s labeling specifications is the inverted printing of human readable information, the page identifier (A/B/C/D) and the exceptions to the small QR code. All of these requirements are particularly easy to implement with professional label software, but problems can still arise with negative printing. The cause of these problems can usually be found on the hardware side and can be quickly solved by our experts.
